Animal Transport

You must transport animals according to the plans described in an approved protocol.

Plans should minimize transit time, address occupational health risks, and protect animals from trauma, temperature extremes, and overcrowding.

You can use campus animal transport services or a personal or UW vehicle to transport an animal under the following guidelines:

UW vehicles dedicated to animal transport and housed at an animal facility

RARC will inspect these vehicles when the facility is inspected.

Personal vehicles or UW vehicles not dedicated to animal transport

People who want to use a personal or UW vehicle not dedicated to animal transport must be assigned transportation on an approved protocol and complete the Animal User Orientation and Transport with a Non-Dedicated Vehicle classes.

Campus animal transport services

To use these services, you must complete an animal transfer request form and check the box requesting transportation assistance.  Note that transportation is not available for some facilities.  Read more about the transfer process.
